ABOUT US
‘In life, only if you are prepared to consider the impossible are you able to discover something new.’
Goethe
Hello everyone and thank you for being here.
We are Romina and Simone and we are sharing our journey with our beautiful friends: Happy, Nocciola, Coccinella, Luce and the new entry Nuvola.
We could say that everything started in the southernmost place in the world, Patagonia.
After a few weeks of work as photographers at the foot of Cerro Torre, we missed Cuneo and our mountains tremendously, and from that moment something changed in us.
The idea of doing something, promoting and showcasing the beauty of the places where we grew up, was born. After years of research and some difficulties, we arrived in Valle Pesio in the autumn of 2020.
Tetto Caban is a small village at the foot of the Bisalta, between the municipalities of Peveragno and Chiusa di Pesio. Where you will find seven houses, two residents, and six animals.
We went from photographers specialized in promoting the mountains to modern mountain folks, or almost.
Now Romina loves baking sweets and experimenting in the kitchen. Her freshly baked, crispy bread tastes like the mountains, her apple pies greet you in the morning, along with her jams and aperitifs. Her smile will welcome you into this little oasis of tranquility.
You’ll find Simone either with the animals or with a chainsaw in hand, always ready to photograph the mountains and the little details nature offers each day. Whether it’s snowing, raining, or sunny, he’ll be the one to tell you—he’s passionate about meteorology. His optimism is contagious.
As you can see we took the chance to return to our roots in everything, that is our goal now. So, in just nine months after moving, we transformed into carpenters, painters, gardeners, woodcutters, etc., to open the Marguareis room as soon as possible, and the following year, the Bisalta.
So what you wait for, come visit us!!
The nature around us
Everything you will see in the structure has been made by us using reclaimed materials. Where that wasn’t possible, we sourced from producers in Cuneo or the Piedmont region.
All furnishings, breakfasts, and beds are personally managed by the two of us. So if you notice any imperfections, we apologize—rural life and authenticity are essential to us, and sometimes a few things slip through the cracks.
There’s really only one rule here: feel at home. Everything else follows the natural rhythm of hospitality. What we truly hope is that everyone can find a bit of lightness and a carefree spirit, whether you’re staying just a few hours or several days.
Our love for animals comes from the desire to reconnect with the wild—a part of life often is left behind. Day and night, you’ll be embraced by silence. The night is dark, but filled with myriads of stars to keep you company. Owls, cuckoos, deer, badgers, foxes, and buzzards roam nearby—so you’re never truly alone; you’re often in wonderful company.
The rest is up to you to experience in your own way. This might not be a place for everyone, but it’s a place filled with disarming positive energy, an essential slow pace, and above all, deep simplicity.
This is our little world.
You’ll also be welcomed by our animals—free-roaming and just as mountain-loving as we are. Coccinella the donkey, Luce, Fiocco, and Miele the goats, Happy the cat (the true boss of the village), Nocciola the little dog, and Lola, Bettina, and Gina—the three hens that gift us fresh eggs every day.
They say about us...
